How to plan a Baby Shower - Start to Finish
We all know that there is a LOT to planning a party and even more to planning a baby shower. Unless you have more hours in a day than everybody else, you will find that the planning process sucks up a lot of your time without even noticing it. This is even more true if you don't have a plan of attack.
We have created a simple step-by-step action plan that makes planning a baby shower SO much easier. So let's get to it!
Step 1: Select the date and time
Most baby showers are held when the mom-to-be is about 7 months pregnant. At that time, she is safely into her pregnancy and she is probably still quite comfortable. Also, the parents-to-be will still have time to gather baby supplies that they didn't get at the shower.
Step 2: Determine the budget
Take into account the size of the guest list, the venue, the invitations, decorations, food and favors. For tips on having a baby shower on a budget, please read this blog post.
Step 3: Decide on the guest list
Close friends and family members are a natural for the guest list. If you are thinking of adding someone to the list beyond that, ask yourself if it is appropriate to ask that person to buy a gift for the mom-to-be. Also consider inviting friends and family members of the dad-to-be if you are hosting a coed baby shower.

Step 4: Choose the venue and theme
Usually, the baby shower is held at the home of the mom-to-be or the hostess. However, if your guest list is long, you should consider renting out a local venue or a private room at a restaurant. And if your budget allows for it, you could also opt for a location that matches your theme. Speaking of which, there are lots of different themes to choose from. You can find great inspiration on our Pinterest boards or in our stationery collections.

Step 5: Send out the invitations
Choose an invitation that matches your baby shower theme to provide your guests a first look into what the big day is all about and send them out approximately 3-5 weeks before the baby shower. Find some gorgeous printable invitation templates in our shop.
Step 6: Pick the menu, decorations and favors
You can hire a caterer, ask each guest to bring a dish to share, or bake a simple spread of desserts. Ask guests to let you know about any special dietary needs ahead of time. For decorations, think about banners, a guest book, the cake, centerpieces, etc. Let the decorations and favors match the theme you chose.

Step 7: Come up with an agenda
Plan the big day from the welcome to the goodbyes. For entertainment, you can add a couple of great baby shower games or plan an activity. Decide on when to unpack the gifts, when to eat, when to play the games, when to hand out the favors and when to say goodbye.
